2nd prize, "Inquisitive Life, Laos"!!!

I got awarded 2nd prize at the Royal Easter show for my photo of a girl I took in Laos. I was so excited (and still are really excited)! So what happened was... I entered a photograph into the Royal Easter Show in Sydney, not thinking I would even get chosen to be hung. Then I didn't get a response from the Royal Easter Show Committee (which apparently means you have been chosen to be hung). So my family and I went along to the show ground and headed into the Arts Pavilion. I had entered my photos into the under 17's competition. And there was my photo! With a massive red ribbon on it! I could not believe it! So I had been chosen to be hung and achieved 2nd prize! Woo.
That was my first competition I had ever entered. I have know been inspired to enter more. The photo is of a young girl in a remote tribe in Laos. It is a bit hard to see her face though she is playing with a little box and she is looking straight up at the viewer through her hair. She is wearing a vibrant skirt which is presented next to dusty earthy colours. I labeled this photograph "Inquisitive life, Laos".

Bits of everything.

These photographs were taken by me in Cambodia. My favorite is the finger nail one because of the vibrant colours and the length of his finger nails. I have this one framed in a white modern frame in my room. Having the bright orange and blue next to the hard white frame looks really good. Have a look through these photos.

Faces.

From the few photos that I have posted so far, you are probably sensing that I have a certain "style" of photography. Usually they are close up faces, in focus and usually the subject is to the left or right of the photograph. I have always loved to photograph that way. The photos I am posting today are, again, from my recent travels to Cambodia. My favorites are the bubble blowing photos as you can see faint bubbles floating around in front of the subject. So check the photographs out and I hope you like them.

This blog post will show a few more of my own photographs. In every photo I look at, it's always the eyes that catch my attention first. So the main focus of this blog will be eyes. By looking into someones eyes I believe you can see their every emotion. If you cover every part of these photos except for the eyes, they would still make a great picture because its like the person's whole personality is laid out right in front of you.
